Annual Report



Good evening

It gives me great pleasure to welcome our Chief Guest,  the invited dignitaries and all the parents present here on the occasion of Annual Day Celebration of the school.

Your presence gives us immense joy and happiness this evening. Today we look forward to the almighty, who has showered on us plentiful blessings. r students in this Annual Report.

This event gives a great opportunity to highlight the achievements accomplished by the school in this session. The school has once again excelled not only in academics but also in co – curricular and extra curricular activities.

In academics, the school produced an excellent result in Class XII with Miss Silvi Sandhu securing 88.8 % in Science stream, Miss Aprajita Gupta 87.6% in Commerce stream and Master Nahid Shah securing 86.2% in Humanities. The pass percentage of  97.35% in 2011 - 2012 of class XII surpassed that of the last two academic sessions. Class X result being 100% was just outstanding.

The school believes in the motto that, “A Healthy Mind resides in a Healthy Body” and encourages its students to participate in all kinds of sporting activities, be it at National , State or Command level. At Northern Command level both the girl’s and the boy’s team bagged second  position in hockey match. In Football Tournament, the Boy’s team stood first. In Volley Ball match, both the girl’s and the boy’s team secured the first position  and lastly the school’s boy’s & the girls team clinched the first position in the Basket Ball match.

In athletics, Master Dev Vasu Dwivedi represented the school in SGFI that is, School Games  Federation of India.  Miss Nandita of classs 5 represented the school at the national level in Himachal Pradesh in the 37th Sub Junior  Basket  ball Tournament. The government of Jammu and Kashmir, Directorate of Youth Services and Sports declared  Sports Scholarship and awarded an annual cash prize  of Rs 1750 to six students namely, Miss Mughda Dogra of class 9th, Miss Harleen Kaur  of  class  6th, Miss Neha Khajuria of class  11th, Master Dev Vasu of class 12th, Master Yash Saxena of class 10th and Master  Amitjot Singh  of class  8th  for participating  in Basket Ball  at National Level under School Games Federation of India. Master Sangram Singh of class 8th was awarded the same scholarship for handball. In the month of October 2011, 24 students participated in 8th Inter – state Squash Championship and also in Sub Juniors and Junior Squash Championship held in Chennai.

 Due to the relentless efforts of the students and the teachers who provided able guidance to the students in both the academics and sports, the school was able to excel and attain its dream of being awarded the academics and sports trophies in the Principal’s meet this year.

The school also takes great pride in the achievements of its NCC cadets. The NCC Cadets namely Harsimran Kaur and Kaumaudi Gupta of class 9th attended the Republic Day Parade 2012 held at New Delhi and brought laurels to the school. The NCC contingent represented the school at the Republic Day Parade at Degree College, Udhampur and stood second under the able guidance of NCC Officer Lt Rajesh Vohra and 3rd Officer Ikpal Kaur.

 It has been an endeavour of the school to provide its students with ample opportunities to get an experience of the outside world by organizing educational tours and excursions throughout the year. The students of classes 8th to 10th, visited the Science City in Jalandhar this summer.

An opportunity to students to showcase their scientific temperament, creativity and talent was presented by organizing a Science and Art and Craft Exhibition. It goes without saying that it was a grand success as depicted by the huge turn out at the event.

We, APSians, while basking in the glory of our success do not sit on our achieved laurels but tirelessly work to touch the zenith. At the same time we wish to correct the shortcomings of the past and try to fare better in the future Today we look forward with a sense of hope towards greater growth and progress.

In the end I would like to conclude with the lines, ‘The woods are lovely, dark and deep but I have miles to go before I sleep’.
